Logline:
How do exaggerated self-promotion and attention-seeking media promote a man to ‘king’ status and what structural racism underlies this performance in the media? The search for answers raises new questions.

Synopsis:
The story of the ‘King of Ghana who lives as a car mechanic in Germany and rules his people in Ghana via Skype’ must have already been told over thousand times by German and international media. The documentary ‘Making of King’ tries to paint the picture more three dimensional and raises critical questions about royal titles, media marketing, stereotypes, development aid and internalized racism.
