Logline
A portrait about the forester Hubert Stehle from the Danube Valley. The film is about walking the thin line between a new beginning and the final farewell, holding on and letting go.

Synopsis

The last week before Christmas – the end of the year is approaching – thoughts about farewell and new beginning. The 65-year-old forester Hubert Stehle is awaiting a new phase of life. It will only be a few years until his retirement, and his wife Eva is already planning to move from their forest to their family home. For 300 years Hubert’s ancestors were foresters and hunters in the service of the Enzbergs, a noble family from the Danube Valley. The end of the family tradition also means the end of an era. What happens after that?

About

The Danube Valley is a stunning landscape that I know very well from my childhood, as my mum was born and bred on top of it and my grandparents still live there. So after making a few films inspired by my second home Ghana, I returned to my roots and looked for interesting personalities in the region. I found Hubert & Eva, through my family and made an intimate yet humorous portrait of the couples life.
